In response to Ms Cathy Hunt's request - we hereby begin the Awesome 10 Days of Christmas Movie Greatness. And, like all good things - this one starts at number 10.
Those Rankin/Bass Holidays Specials that were on the tv so much when I was a kid. You know...
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Frosty the Snowman
The Little Drummer Boy
Those films. They delighted and terrified you all at once. They had some pretty prestigious stars involved (but maybe it was just that it was the 60's and they thought they weren't going to get any more work I dunno) ANYWAY Burl Ives, Fred Astaire, Mickey Rooney - you get the idea.
Do they stand the test of time? If you are up for a whole bunch of masochistic Christmas nostalgia - for SURE.
